Effect of angular deviations in the shallow-encoding condition. Participants were tested on the same (0°) or rotated versions of what they saw (30°–330°, symmetrically collapsed into 30°–180° here). There is a slight dip in reaction time (RT) at 90°, but this did not reach statistical significance. No matter how big the angular deviation, separate comparisons showed that Probe RTs are slower than Irrelevant RTs at all angles. This is similar to what was observed in Experiment 1
